Secretary for Health, Chung-mau Lo, stated that the government was committed to improving the efficiency of public hospitals, developing primary healthcare, and establishing an electronic health ecosystem to promote the steady development of Hong Kong's healthcare system. In the future, Hong Kong aims to strengthen cooperation with mainland China in developing cross-regional medical services.
The Asian Medical and Health Summit is an important event in the Asian medical and health field, aimed at promoting interdisciplinary exchanges and cooperation and driving the development and innovation of medical and health technologies. The summit attracted experts, scholars, representatives from medical institutions, and related businesses from various Asian countries, serving as a platform for sharing the latest scientific research achievements and discussing industry development trends.
Professor Hu Yong's research team, as an important research group of the University of Hong Kong, participated in the summit with great significance and influence. One of their latest research achievements showcased at the event was the EEG brain-controlled soft rehabilitation glove, which enables control and recovery of hand movements by recording and interpreting brain signals. This technology has tremendous rehabilitation potential for patients with conditions such as stroke and spinal cord injuries, helping them regain autonomy in daily life. In addition, Professor Hu Yong's team also presented another innovative achievement: an EMG-controlled adaptive prosthetic hand. This hand prosthesis achieves flexible control and adaptation by sensing muscle electrical signals. The application of this technology is expected to bring great benefits to people who have lost hand function, improving their quality of life and work capabilities.
By participating in the Asian Medical and Health Summit, members of the research team had the opportunity to engage in in-depth exchanges and collaborations with experts from various fields. By sharing their research findings, they had the chance to promote the application and further improvement of relevant technologies, better serving patients and the general public in the medical and health sector.
The participation of Professor Hu Yong's team from the University of Hong Kong's Orthopedics and Traumatology Department not only showcased their innovative strength in the field of medical and health technology but also injected new vitality into the Asian Medical and Health Summit. Their research achievements are expected to bring new breakthroughs and advancements to the field of rehabilitation medicine, making a positive contribution to improving people's quality of life.
